Founded by Derek and Stuart Wallensteen, 2W Training specializes in tennis and basketball coaching and personal training. We customize our programs and sessions to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities. We live fitness and sport and strive to ensure that we make it fun for everyone that we work with. At present, we our providing services throughout the GVA (Greater Vancouver Area).

Stuart Wallensteen, originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia grew up loving and playing all sports. He decided to primarily focus on basketball when he was 14 and moved to New York for his 11th & 12th grade to play in one of the most competitive high school basketball leagues in the world CHSAA(Catholic high school athletic association) for the Xaverian Clippers. After high school Stuart received a scholarship to play basketball at Murray State College in Oklahoma where he graduated with a diploma in business. Stuart finished his collegiate career playing basketball on a full scholarship at UBCO during the 13/14 season. Stuart has then played the last two years for the Vancouver Ballohollics which is in the ABA(American basketball association). Stuart has battled injuries post high school having 3 L knee surgeries and a R ankle surgery. This is where Stuart found his love and passion for fitness and off court training, having to rehab as much as he did which has become his main passion in life. Sharing his experiences and expertise with aspiring athletes and anyone looking to make a positive change in improving themselves.

2WTraining and Fuel Fitness are excited to announce that they have partnered to provide the Surrey Tennis Centre a world class training experience. We have brought in a new leader for the program and a team of highly experienced people around him to ensure the highest quality training for all of our players.  They will work closely with Derek and Stuart to ensure everyone maximizes their physical development this year.  The new coaches are:

Brian GillisLead Trainer
From 2009 to 2013 Brian attended New England College. He graduated with a BA in Kinesiology and a minor in Sports Management.

From September 2015 to September 2016 Brian attended Sheffield Hallam, University, in the UK, completing his Masters of Science in Applied Sport and Exercise Science. He was granted permission to do his research and dissertation in Vancouver.  His dissertation and research was ‘An Off Season Strength and Conditioning Program in Conjunction With Autoregulation For An NHL Athlete: Case Study.’

He is ACE certified personal qualification and has worked with both youth and adult, recreational and elite athletes.

As an athlete Brian played many sports growing up, including hockey and golf, but has had tremendous success as a lacrosse player receiving college scholarships, representing Ireland’s national team, and he currently plays for the Coquitlam Adanacs in the senior A, WLA league.

Jens KielingConsultant
Jens is an expert in picking out all the deficiencies related to stability and movement of the human body. It is in recognizing these minute and tiny details that we are able to correct those areas through consistent training programs. By working those deficiencies, you greatly reduce the risk of injury but also significantly improve the quality of movement. Quality of biomechanical movement relates to performance in sport. Poor biomechanical stability/movement equals poor performance in sport. Excellent biomechanical stability/movement equals outstanding performance in sport.

Reggie ZebiConsultant
As a young boy growing up in Albania, Reggie’s passion was sport. He lived to play soccer. It was his dream to become a high level player but in high school he was recruited by the track coach and his focus shifted to distance running. He won several National titles in the 5 and 10km events and went on to do a Physical Education degree at the University of Tirana.  After graduating, he taught Physical Education for a number of years before being hired as the National women’s track coach. He went on to coach many successful teams over the next 6 years. He has been blessed to have had the opportunity to train some of the best athletes in the country in tennis, rowing, soccer and figure skating.  His belief is to always give 100 percent and genuinely care about each and everyone one he trains.

Style of Training: Sport Specific Training specializing in Youth Tennis and Figure Skating, Adult Functional Movement and Fitness.

Credentials: CPT, CPR, First Aid, PhysEd.
